Ghost Lover (3)

Frustration is driving me up the walls with the situation on hand. It felt like the world had turned pitch black and I can only hear things but not see them.

I do not know who I am speaking to or rather what I am speaking to. I have been repeating the same answer over and over again that I am starting to feel like a broken record.

"Ar...are you a...," I gulped down the lump that has formed in my throat before continuing, "a..."

I couldn't quite bring myself to voice out that question that has been burning in my mind for the whole day now. I believed in ghosts but I just never thought I would actually bumped into one.

"Am I a what? Do you need to shiver so hard?" It's that same voice again. That disembodied voice.

"I don't even know who or what I'm talking to. Can you blame me for that?" My annoyance seemed to give me courage, even if just a little bit. It feels good to have some other emotions other than fear.

"Ooo...you want to get to know me better? That sounds like fun." The cheekiness in the voice is so obvious.

What?!! Get to know him...it...whatever...better?!! That sounds so outta my mind. Why should I, anyway?

"That's so not fun. Fine. I needed to know who or what you are." I'm giving up. I don't want to give in to my fear. Despite what my boyfriend think of me, I'm not the kind of girl who would willingly show my fear. That just feels so vulnerable to myself.

"Wow...wow...wow. No need to get all worked up like that. My name is TOP. Yes, as in the spinning top. But I'm not spinning right now, of course. Hahaha...XD I'm 21 years old. I don't know how I ended up like this. You being able to hear me but not see me whereas I can hear and see you clearly."

Though he sounds cheeky, but I thought I could detect some sadness when he said he doesn't know how he ended up the way he did right now.

21 years old? That means we are almost the same age. If he doesn't know how he ended up like this, that's a big pity. I'm very much alive. He feels alive but not really so, at the same time.

I gathered up my courage to ask that very crucial question that's been burning at the front of my mind now.

"Are you," I took a deep breath before continuing, "a ghost?" There. I had it out in the open now.

"Ghost? Well, to tell you the truth, I'm not really sure myself. I don't feel like I'm dead but with the situation right now, even I doubted myself."

Great. He can't even be sure of himself and doubted it too. I do understand what situation he meant. It just go against the logic. I can't see him but I can hear him and him saying he doesn't feel dead himself. That just don't explain anything at all.

Oh God, could you please explain to me what is happening to me??? Am I going crazy or what?

Ghost Lover (2)

[Hye-rin POV]

"Psst...can you hear me?" A detached voice came from my left side.

"Nuguya?" Looking left and right, I was sure there's no one around me. But who is that?

"Can you hear me?" That voice again.

"Yes, I can hear you but who are you?" My own voice is so squeaky high that I almost couldn't recognize it myself.

My hands are shaking as I quickly dialed GD's number. This had been happening for two nights in a row. And ever since that joke too.

If I didn't know it better, I'd have thought my mind flew off the right track. But I know I am sane as of this moment.

"Hye-rin? What's the matter?" His concerned voice coming through the earpiece has a calming effect to my pumping heart.

Well, well, well...that joker boyfriend of mine actually knows the meaning of concern. I thought there is no such word in his dictionary.

"I don't know how to explain this but I kept hearing this voice asking Can you hear me? over and over. And it only happened since the day we came back from that haunted house."

"Hye-rin, I've told you time and again, it's an abandoned house. Not a haunted house. Never mind."

"Whatever. But, oppa...do you hear any voices? Voices that you don't know where it came from."

"Huh? Voices? No. Are you really alright?" There. That concerned tone in his voice again. If only he is always this concerned when it comes to me. Fat chance of that happening.

"I'm fine. I guess it's only my imagination. Good night."

"Good night."

"It's alright. You don't have to be afraid of me. I won't harm you."

"WHO ARE YOU? SHOW YOURSELF. STOP THIS JOKE RIGHT NOW."

"You don't need to shout. I can hear you fine. Erm...actually...I'm only next to you."

"I...I don't see a...anyone be...beside m...me." I am glancing to my left and right but there is only thin air around me.

"That's weird. You can hear me but you can't see me?"

, "Oppa, please come out now. This is not funny." She is pleading to an unseen person.

That's me.

"Haha...it's a wonder that I actually ended up dating such a timid girl like you?" I started to laugh but managed to stop any noise from escaping my mouth. I don't want my cover to be blown!

Of course she can't see me. I'm hidden.

In fact, the whole surrounding is pitch black and if you scream, no one will hear you. It's an abandoned house. People though it might be haunted.

It's old, falling apart and uncared for. No electricity. No living beings. Well, unless you count those rats and creepy crawlies that live around here. Who wouldn't actually mistaken it for a haunted house.

Those tiny twitching sounds of rats and their scurrying little feet on the cement floor, it can get a bit creepy...if you're a girl. I am a guy so it isn't that scary to me.

I'm in for a little fun here. Seeing her shaking and looking around for me, this is like a live comedy show for me. Practical jokes, my area of expertise.

The light on her torch light is shaky. Like it's experiencing a tiny earthquake except the ground is steady beneath my feet.

Better not let her encounter a mirror or I will have to visit the ear specialist for getting my eardrums busted by her scream.

"Oppa, you can come out now. It's not funny." She is half pleading, half crying now.

I guess the joke will have to stop here or I will find myself girlfriend-less by the end of the joke.

"Is that you, Hye-rin? I'm here. It's alright now." I put on a straight face though I badly needed to laugh out loud.

"You know I hate these kind of dark places yet you think it's cool to date around here."

Ooo...someone's getting grumpy.

A sudden gust of wind blew in the house. I shivered a bit but tried to hide it as best as I could. I could feel her shivering body next to me. She is still shaking a little from the joke just now.

I looked around us but the curtains...or rather what's left of the curtains...are not showing any signs of wind ever passing them. That's weird.

Broken Heart - Part 5

Today's schedule is not as packed as it usually is. He still needs to rush from one place to another but luckily there are a few hours break in between of his daily activities. He drove around the area without any destination in mind.

Suddenly, his stomach growled in protest and instantly reminded himself that he haven't had his lunch yet. He started looking for a place to eat but all around him, it is only high-rise corporate buildings with lots of people dressed smartly walking past.

There aren't many shops where he could get his lunch. His car rounded a corner and there sits a bakery which looks pretty much out of place with all the modern buildings towering over it. The bakery gave a very homey feel to the area he is in.

Parking his car by the sidewalk, he got out and walked towards the bakery. There aren't many customers in the shop. With a tray and bread tongs in hand, he browsed around looking at the choices available. His eyes were fixed on the blueberry cheesecake in the cooler in front of him.

Like an excited schoolboy looking at his favorite ice-cream, he reached out to pick the cheesecake. A lady was beside him seeming to aim at the same cheesecake he saw first. Quickly, he grabbed it and put it on his tray.

The lady next to him glared at him and then recognition dawned on him. It was Hye-jin. The same girl he felt so heartbroken over. Before he could even blinked his eyes in surprise, she practically dashes out from the shop disappearing from view.

All of these happened so fast it felt as if he had dreamed her up with his constant thoughts on her. He hurriedly paid for his cheesecake and ran out to find her. But all he saw was just the same scene when he arrived on this street.

It's got to be her. She was right next to him, both wanting the same cheesecake. A thought flickered through his mind. He remembered that she loves cheesecake just like he does. Well, actually that was what started the whole ball game rolling for them.

That same fateful day is similar to what had happened earlier in the bakery. They were both in a bakery like just now not knowing each other at that time. He wanted a quick snack and saw the strawberry cheesecake, the only slice left.

He reached out with his bread tongs and she reached out hers, both wanting the same slice. Being the nice gentleman that he is, he signaled for her to have the remaining slice of cheesecake. She smiled gratefully at him and thanked him with her sweet voice.

Her sweet smile and voice caught him off guard. When he looked around again, she had walked out from the bakery. He thought of asking for her number but didn't manage to. He had hoped that they would meet again. He was so sure it was fate that they met at the bakery.

Just seeing her again makes his heart skipped a beat. Right now, it's drumming so fast and hard in his chest that it felt like his heart is about to jump out from his chest. He started taking deep breaths to slow down his excited heart.

Calm down, man. Calm down. He kept thinking to himself.

He walked quickly to his car and started driving around the area searching for her. He hoped that he could catch a glimpse of her, even if it's from a far distance. He needed to be sure that it's her he saw.

Her turning up in his life again could mean positive omen. If she's here, it could mean that she's working nearby. It's got to be. These thoughts kept circling in his head.

After an hour of searching and no signs of her, he finally gave up. It would do him no good if he continued driving around the area to search for her. It'll be like searching for a needle in the haystack. Fruitless.

"Wow, you're home already?"

"Yeah. There's nothing else in my schedule so I thought I'd better come home to rest."

"You look flushed. Something exciting happened?"

"Yeah...you can say that. I saw Jin-hye just now. She was just right next to me."

"Hold on a second, young man. What are you talking about? You're getting me confused."

Junsu walked straight into his own room without answering. It's a good thing they have separate rooms for themselves. Or else, there would be no privacy if they were to share a room. It just occurred to him that he did not explain to Micky why he was so down back when Jin-hye and him got separated.

Jin-hye, I know you saw me and I definitely saw you perfectly well.
But before I could call out your name, you already fled from me like I'm diseased.
It's fine if you do not want to talk to me but could you at least explain why you ran away from me?

It's a lie that it's fine if you do not want to talk to me. How could it be fine for him? It pained him that she doesn't want to speak a word to him. He badly wished that things had not turned out the way it did for them. He badly wished they were still an item. What cruel fate.

Broken Heart - Part 4

"Hey, Jin-hye. You want to join us for lunch?"

"Nah, it's alright. Go ahead without me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, go on. Enjoy your lunch."

"Okay, same to you too."

That was her assistant inviting her to lunch yet again. She had rejected the offer twice in a week already. She is just not in the mood to eat with the usual gang. These past few days, too much is going on in her head.

When she's not hounded by the thoughts that's running through her head right now, she is a pretty sociable person. Though she might be the head of department, but she still mingles happily with her subordinates.

To her, work is work and play is play. When it's time for work, she'll be the serious leader. When it's time for fun, she'll have fun like there's no tomorrow. That's her personality and maybe that's why her colleagues like her just fine.

She walked to the park that is just round the corner from her office block with a book in hand. When she wants to be alone, she'll come to this park. There's a man-made lake in the middle of the park. Old folks with their little grandchildren will come here for picnic.

Picnic tables are everywhere in the park but the folks will still picnic the traditional way. A piece of red-and-white checkered clothe and some tidbits make just a fine and simple picnic. Sitting on the park bench, looking out to the lake, with little children laughing and running gives her a sense of serenity.

*phone rings*

The insistent ring of her phone brought her back to reality. She looked for a second at the screen of her phone to see who's ringing her.

"Yobosaeyo. Hye-jin speaking."

"Hello, dear. Are you eating your lunch now?"

"I'm not eating lunch today. Have you eaten yours?"

His voice is full of concern for her. That's who he is. A caring person. Which girl won't be touched by his caring personality? A caring man is what every girl craves for but caring men are rare.

"Why aren't you eating your lunch? Don't worry about me. I just got back from eating lunch with my colleagues. Are you feeling alright?"

"Of course I'm feeling fine. I just don't feel like eating, that's all. I'll grab some bread on my way back to the office."

"Where are you now?"

"I'm at the park, enjoying the scenery here. It's very beautiful and merry with the voice of little children running around."

"Okay, do take care. I need to get back to work now. See you tonight. Don't come home too late."

She smiled at his remarks and said her goodbye. Glancing at her wristwatch, she realized that lunch hour is almost over. She crossed the street to get to the bakery opposite of the park. That bakery offers the best blueberry cheesecake in that area. She loves getting her blueberry cheesecake from there.

She walked in to an almost empty bakery with only a few customers left, now that the lunch hour is almost over. She walked over to where the blueberry cheesecake is placed. It's her lucky day. There is still one slice left.

Just as she reached out her hand to take it, someone reached out his hand to claim the one and only remaining slice. She gave a hard glare at the person who dared to take her favorite cheesecake away from her.

Without much of an expectation to see someone familiar, the sight of Junsu gave her a slight shock. The first thought that ran through her mind is "What the hell is he doing here?". This is the last place she ever thought she'd bumped into him. It's not like she bumps into him pretty often.

Naturally, she didn't know how to react to the sight of him. It never occurred to her that she'd bump into him again after what happened between them. She had never even contemplated what she would say to him if she ever sees him again.

Before she knows it, she was walking out of the bakery at lightning speed. It felt as if her legs had suddenly grown a mind of their own. She prayed hard that he wouldn't follow her. The last thing she needed is to confront him.

Broken Heart - Part 3

"Hey Junsu, you did a great job there. Thank you for the hard work."

"Thank you for your compliment. I'm only doing my part. Thank you for the hard work. Bye."

He walked away in the direction of the cafeteria. He's been hosting the radio show for a month now. Ratings for his show is steadily climbing and he's happy with the results and the support his fans have given him.

"One tuna sandwich please. Thank you."

"Hey Junsu, you're only having your breakfast now? It's already 10am."

"Yeah, Hyuk-jin. I've only come out of the studio. My radio show ended at 10am."

"Here, my treat."

"Thank you."

Hyuk-jin passed him a bottle of water to go with his sandwich. He took both the sandwich and the water out of the cafeteria. He likes eating in the small park just outside the broadcasting building. He doesn't like to be disturbed when he eats and the environment of the park makes it better to enjoy his morning breakfast.

*phone rings*

"Good morning, Junsu speaking."

"Junsu! Where are you now? Hurry over here. I hope you remember that the show is starting at 11:30am."

"Yes, yes. I remember. I'm on my way now."

He ended the call and quickly rushed to the department store where he'll be emcee for a charity event. He almost forget that he had this event after his radio show this morning. Luckily his manager called him up.

"Junsu, I can't believe that you almost missed the event just now. You're always punctual. Why the carelessness today?"

"I guess I'm just a bit off my bearings today."

"Plus, during the time when the volunteers are playing the game, you're not looking at them but you're actually staring out in the crowd, like you're staring at someone. Someone you recognized out there?"

"Oh...no." He hesitated.

Truthfully, he did in fact saw someone out in the crowd who is just as surprised as he is when both their eyes locked into each other. The other party broke the eye contact after a few seconds but he can't stop staring. He never thought he would see her again after all these time that they were apart.

She seemed to be alone with no one by her side. She's dressed in a dark turquoise blouse with a long black slacks. She looked very formal in that attire.

Well, it's the working hours so it's usual, isn't it? But, if it's the working hours, how come she's in the department store? He was lost in his own thoughts.

"Hey Junsu, you're back."

"Yeah, I'm back. How come you're this early today?"

"It's more of like you're the one who's late. Usually at this hour, you'll be home watching the television or playing games."

"Erm...I was walking around the place where I did a charity event today. That's why I'm late."

He doesn't really understand why he hesitated when Micky asked him why he's late. The usual him would have just brushed it off as nothing. He didn't really tell the truth of what happened back then. All he told Micky was just that their relationship was over and they separated.

It would do him no good if Micky were told what happened. He would flare up and probably go to her for a proper explanation seeing how much Junsu is hurt by her. He flopped onto his bed and closed his eyes.

*knocks on the door*

"Junsu, wake up. It's time for dinner." Micky whispered into Junsu's room.

It's all pitch black outside the window. He could see the sleeping form of Junsu to his left. He opened the door wider to let himself in. Slowly, he put his hand on Junsu's arm and patted it softly to wake him up.

"Ugh...what is it?"

"It's 8pm now. Wake up and go have some dinner."

"Thanks. Be right out." With that, he flipped over to the other side, away from the light streaming in from the doorway.

Seeing Junsu so tired out, he walked silently out the door and closed it behind him. Junsu will wake up when he's hungry, even though it's in the midnight. If he didn't wake up till the next morning, Micky had to make sure that Junsu isn't late for his usual morning radio show.

"Leave your husband and be with me again. I'm so much more accomplished now as compared to back then. I can now be on the same level as you are."

"But...we're over a year ago. I'm a married woman now."

"I know you're a married woman now. That's why I asked you to leave your husband. You don't love your husband as deep as you love me, don't you?" His voice bordering on desperation now.

"Please stop this, Junsu. You know we can't be together. Please be your old self, Junsu." She's begging him too.

"This is the old me. I didn't change. It's you who changed. You went and got yourself married, leaving me all alone." His voice quivered a bit.

His hands locked onto her arms and shook her hardly.

"This is the proof that I still love you very deeply." He forced his mouth onto hers and kissed her roughly.

"Ugh...Junsu, let go."

Junsu sat up in one quick movement of his abs. His dream felt so real. Even the kiss seemed real. He doesn't know why he had that dream. Maybe it's the reaction from yesterday at the mall.

"Junsu, thank goodness you're awake now. I tried calling you just now but you didn't even wake up. And what's up with the kiss just now?"

"Kiss? What kiss?" He frowned at Micky.

"Did you know that you grab my head and kiss my mouth hard? For your information, I don't swing that way, okay?" Micky gave him a wink.

No wonder that kiss felt so real just now. He actually unconsciously kissed Micky on his mouth. Hopes that won't happen again.

Broken Heart - Part 2

"Hey Jin-hye, you wanna join us for clubbing?"

"Nah, thanks for the invite. I'm not in the mood for clubbing. Enjoy yourself, guys."

With that she waved goodbye to the small group. Today is another night of overtime. If she keeps on working overtime like this, she is sure to turn into a zombie.

Just these few nights alone, she went home all exhausted. She is out cold the moment her head hit the pillow. When the mornings come, she had to force herself to get out of the bed to go to work. This has become a routine. A routine that she doesn't favor at all.

"Hey honey, you're back."

"Yeah, I'm back and dead tired too." She walked limply to the couch.

"You want me to heat up your dinner? It'll only be a moment while you take your shower."

"No, thanks. I'm so dog-tired that I just needed my sleep badly."

"Okay...okay. You can enjoy your much needed sleep but first get washed up before climbing into bed. I don't want to wake up to a smelly wife." He chuckled lightly at his own joke.

Jin-hye is far too exhausted to really appreciate the joke that her new husband cracked. They weren't married to each other for long. It's less than a year, in fact. She didn't really love her husband deeply but neither does she have no feelings for him.

Maybe those feelings aren't the ones of love but of respect. Before they got married, she was only acquainted with her husband for two months or so. She found him to be very gentlemanly and nice. It's her mother who introduced her to him.

When her mother introduced them to each other, she's still going out with her now ex-boyfriend, Junsu. Junsu is a nice guy too. So why didn't Junsu and her ended up in marriage? She laughed bitterly at her pathetic self. She didn't understand why either.

Junsu is a nice guy so why didn't her mother approve of him but introduced her to Min-ho? Min-ho worked as a financial analyst in one of the big companies in the country. With his fame and fortune, he sure looked attractive to lots of other girls but Jin-hye isn't one of them.

All of these are only the wish of her parents, more of her mother though. As for Junsu, he's only an upcoming star. He's trying to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry, trying his hands on different aspects of jobs in the entertainment industry. Acting, dancing, singing and even emceeing.

His fame is starting to rise up slowly though his fortune has yet to rise in the same pace as his fame. This could be the reason why her mother introduced her to Min-ho. She can understand her mother's anxiousness. A woman can't stay unmarried for too long or age will catch up with her in no time.

Waiting for Junsu to be rich and famous might be too long a wait for her mother. Min-ho is the son of her father's associate. They met once in a business function and it seemed that her mother loves Min-ho the moment she set her eyes on him. Thus, all these introduction and later on marriage.

"Honey, are you asleep? Are you sure you don't want any food?"

No answer came from his wife except for the steady breathing as a reply. He slowly closed the door behind him to not disturb his tired wife. She looked so serene sleeping on the bed. He walked towards his study room to finish up his work before joining his wife in the bed.

*alarm rings*

"Honey, wake up or you'll be late for work."

"Hmph...let me sleep for a few more seconds."

"No, you have to wake up or else you'll really be late. Wake up or I'll tickle you silly."

He started tickling her because he knows that she's ticklish. This trick will always work to get her out of the bed in no time.

"Okay...okay. I'm awake now. Stop it." She giggles.

She trudged heavily to the bathroom to clean herself up.

"Breakfast's ready, my dear."

"Coming in a second." She shouted back at him.

She hurriedly put on her other earring before walking to the dining table.

"Yummy, pancakes. This is what I need to boost my energy for a long day ahead of me."

"You're working overtime tonight again?"

"I don't know. I wish I don't need to. My husband's the best, feeding me my meals."

"Of course I'm the best. Isn't that why you marry me?" He lightly pinched her nose.

"Finish up quickly and I'll drive you to work." He grinned at her from opposite of the table.

"Good morning, listeners. You're now listening to Junsu's Morning Breakfast Show. How are you people this morning? All charged up for the day ahead of you? I hope you are. Now, let's listen to some upbeat song to start the day."

Junsu? Radio DJ? Is that really him? So, he's been working hard as usual, she thought silently to herself.

"Have a nice day, honey." He kissed her goodbye before driving off to his workplace.

"Hey Soo-nah, have you heard? Junsu is now taking on a job as radio DJ. You know, that cute actor guy who is also a singer, a dancer and an emcee."

"Yeah...yeah. I've heard of him. He can sing and dance pretty well. Now he's even doing DJ job? Wow, he sure is amazing. How I wish my boyfriend is as hardworking as him."

"Ahem..."

"Oh, good morning, Ms. Jin-hye." Both of them answered meekly before walking off to their respective desks.

Junsu seemed to be the talk of the town again, just like he did when he first started out as a trainee actor. I should be happy for him but why do I feel as if I'm missing out on his happiness? She thinks to herself.

She has a loving husband who loves her deeply and her parents loved her very much too. Shouldn't she feel happy and satisfied with these facts? Why does she keep thinking of Junsu when their relationship was over so long ago?

Untitled

"You are here..."

That sounded more like a question than a statement. Small breeze started to blow around her causing her long, straight hair to sway in the direction of the breeze.

"For four years after his death, you never once come near this place. What are you doing here now?"

So, it's been four years since his death? I never realize how time just flew past, she thought to herself.

"Do you even consider yourself acquainted with him? If you do, why weren't you here before? What makes you come after all this time?"

Questions after questions were asked yet all of them were unanswered. Being absent all this while, is there really a reason for it all? Heartbreak? Unable to face the reality of his death?

His death magnified her fear of being alone. All her life, she has always hate being alone. Her parents died in a horrible car crash. She still remembers the day of their death. She was home alone with her nanny. Her parents were out for a wedding dinner.

She had a slight fever. That's why her parents left her with the nanny. It's not like she really needed the care of a nanny. It was raining heavily when they drove off. Just twenty minutes away from their destination, a speeding motorcycle came out of nowhere, crashing into her parents' car.

The motorcyclist got away with a slight scratch here and there but it ended the lives of her beloved parents. How ironic. A happy day with a sad ending. From then onwards, she has always hated being alone yet she never really trusted anyone to care for her or to love her.

She was always afraid that one day, the people she loved will just go away like her parents did. She might have been surrounded by the crowd but she's never really secure with the people around her. There will always be a barricade between her and the people around her.

All these changed when Janson came into her life. She never really trusted him at first. No matter how hard he tried to break that brick wall down, he just never succeed. She wouldn't allow him through her private wall.

What she wished wouldn't come true did just the opposite four years ago. Her nightmare came true again just ten years after her parents left her alone to fend for herself. This is why she never trusted in love ever again.

"Why does the people I care left me alone?" she has always asked herself this question but no answer came to her.

Her past with Janson started four years back. At that point of time, she was only starting to get used to living alone with whatever fortune her parents left her. They are not from a rich family but being an only daughter and child, life was going fine for the three of them.

It took her almost five years to get used to living alone cause there just wasn't anyone who could teach her how to live on her own. She was too young to even be independent. She have always have loving support from both her parents.

She wasn't a brat even though she's the only child. Her father has always taught her to be humble and be considerate of the feelings of others. He wouldn't let her run loose even though she's the only child. He believes that just because she's the only child doesn't mean that she could do things the way she wanted to without a care for the feelings of others.

Though he taught her a lot of moral values, but she was never taught to be independent. Being the only child could have been the biggest cause for that. However, things would never go the way humans wanted it to be. Humans can never predict what the future has in store for them.

Living alone is never an easy task. She learned how to cook bits by bits. She learned how to clean up the house. She even learned how to wash her own clothes. All these chores have always been taken care of by her mother and her mother never requested that she performed these household chores.

*****

"Oh no, the milk bottle is empty again. Guess I have to go to the convenient store to some and also stock up on my supplies." She said to no one in particular.

If not for her occasional lamentation to the empty, large house, it would have been so silent that you can hear a pin drop. The housekeeper does come by once a week to help her with cleaning the large house but most of the time, she'll be alone in the house.

She changed out of her usual house clothes and grabbed her purse before walking out the door. The sun is shining brightly and chirping of birds can be heard here and there, calling out to each other and answering each other. Such lovely sounds on a sunny afternoon.

"Welcome, miss."

She smiled briefly at the girl standing behind the counter. She took a shopping basket by the entrance of the store. Walking down the aisle in search of milk, she passed by an old couple who are chatting happily away to each other.

This sight reminded her of how nice it would be if her parents were still alive. That would never be case. She'll never be able to see this scene anymore. She, herself, didn't even know if there will come a day where she will walk around a convenient store with her arm around her husband just like the old couple.

"Let's see. I need to grab some biscuits and a packet of spaghetti. Oh, and some tomato paste too."

It might seem strange that a girl shopping by herself actually talks to herself while shopping but that's what she usually does when she shopped for her daily supplies.

"Hmm, what did I forget? Washing powder...yes, washing powder."

She was too busy checking the items in her basket that she wasn't really looking at where she's walking.

"Ouch!"

"Hey miss, are you alright?"

"Yes, yes. I'm fine. Sorry."

She looked up to see a guy with a pair of ocean blue eyes and nicely combed hair staring back at her. He looked like an Asian guy yet at the same time he looked a bit like an American. She couldn't decide whether he's an Asian or American. But that's not the problem right now. She had to stop staring or he'll think she's a weird girl.

"Be careful while you're walking. You won't know who you bump into if you're not looking. Bye."

He flashed her a pleasant smile. She can't help by smiled in return. He looked and sounded like a charming guy. After the guy walked out of her sight, she went back to her grocery shopping. The low rumbling of thunder in the distant tells her that it will rain soon. She better finished her shopping soon or she'll be caught in the rain.

Note: As you can see, there are two colors used for this story. When I changed the color from green to blue and vice versa, that is when I update the story. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish this story.
